Michelle Wu was elected as the primary girl and Asian American to grow to be the mayor of Boston on Tuesday night time.
Wu, a 36-year-old metropolis councilor, defeated fellow Democratic Metropolis Councilor Annissa Essaibi George.
The pair confronted one another after beating out a number of different mayoral candidates in a September preliminary election.
Wu, whose mother and father immigrated to the US from Taiwan, will succeed Performing Mayor Kim Janey on Nov. 16.
The newly-elected mayor hails from Chicago and moved to Boston to go to Harvard College and Harvard Legislation College.
A number of high-profile Massachusetts politicians had endorsed Wu, together with Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Edward Markey, and Rep. Ayanna Pressley.
