Man praised for stepping in after woman assaulted at Vancouver McDonald’s – BC

A person residing on the streets in Vancouver is being praised as a hero for stepping in to assist a girl who was being attacked at a fast-food restaurant within the West End.

James Mickelson was getting his morning espresso on the McDonald’s on Davie Road at Cardero round 9 a.m. Tuesday when he stated an altercation broke out between a person and a girl.

The person had been attempting to entry the washroom, police stated.

“When he realized it was occupied, he grew to become very violently annoyed, started kicking the door, and he threw his espresso. This espresso then landed on one of many victims,” Const. Tania Visintin stated.

When a girl, a vacationer in her 60s, requested the person to depart, Mickelson stated the suspect punched her.

“I needed to step in and I needed to mainly take somebody down and put him on the counter whereas he was pointing a butterknife into my neck,” he stated.

“After which I let him up and pushed his cart out (the door). That’s when the knife fell out of his hand and two officers got here from Safeway and began to take management of the scene.”
