The our bodies of a koala, a border collie, a cat and guinea pigs have been dumped in an inner-city park in Brisbane in a single day.
Residents of Toowong close to Anzac Park alerted council staff early Thursday night to luggage within the park the place the our bodies of the animals had been found.
The employees discovered a deceased koala, a border collie, some possums, guinea pigs and a cat.
Police and the RSPCA are already investigating the animals to find out if they’d been slaughtered earlier than they had been dumped.
Between 15 and 20 animals have been found.
On Friday, Lord mayor Adrian Schrinner described the actions as “a sick act”.
“I’m saddened, disturbed and appalled at what’s occurred right here. It’s now a matter for Queensland Police, who I hope will discover the culprits, so our courts can cope with them.”
