New albums from Arcade Fire, the Weeknd and Shad are amongst these longlisted for this 12 months’s Polaris Music Prize.
The juried award for finest Canadian album of the 12 months was narrowed all the way down to 40 contenders who will now vie for a spot on the brief listing, to be revealed July 14.

The lengthy listing was chosen from 223 albums that made the primary ballots.
The Polaris winner will likely be introduced Sept. 19 at a gala presentation held at Toronto’s Carlu, and webcast on CBC Music. The opposite brief listing nominees every obtain $3,000.
