Arcade Fire, the Weeknd, Tanya Tagaq land on Polaris music prize long list

New albums from Arcade Fire, the Weeknd and Shad are amongst these longlisted for this 12 months’s Polaris Music Prize.

The juried award for finest Canadian album of the 12 months was narrowed all the way down to 40 contenders who will now vie for a spot on the brief listing, to be revealed July 14.

The Polaris Music Prize awards $50,000 to the artist or group that created one of the best Canadian album of the earlier 12 months — no matter style or gross sales — as chosen by a bunch of journalists, broadcasters and bloggers.
